pretty much, see when it comes to big gigs, you really only need 20, but if you want to constantly download stuff you will need somthing bigger, thats why the ps3 has 40 and the 360 has one with a 170 gig (omg) and a 20, really you just have to look into what you want to do. what do you want to download, and how many games are you going to buy. so really just do research on that. were talkin about a ps3 right? well there 40 gig is pretty good, and there (im pretty sure) there coming out with a 80 gig ps3 that will be 600 bucks again. or 499. i dont remember. see some people dont want the 360s 170 gig, because the chances are, there not going to need that...thats why people buy the regular xbox 360 because 20 gigs is HUGE amount of memory and chances are you not even gona fill that up for acouple years.

Dude i know what gigs are , i built a PC from scratch.
I mean that i heard the specific model has no wifi and online play.
Plus 40 gig has no backward compatibilty.

well i know you knew what gigs are. and all ps3 has wifi and lan capabilitys. and all 360s have all lan cababilitys...you gota buy a wifi adapter for the 360. theres no specific models when it comes to online play. although there is no backward campatabilty on the 40 gig ps3, that is very true. sony did that to encourage people to buy ps3 games. so its best to get the other ps3 thats bigger in price. if youre planing to buy the ps3. unless you still have a ps2. and you dont care that you have to switch between systems. go ahead and get the 400 ps3.

only thing 40 gig last and i know this is a bit of a necro post is that it dosnt have any backwards compatibility and no wirless internet. and wireless internet on it is so nice to not have a hard wire running through my appartment.

yeah if i was going to get a ps3, wich i will in like....a year or 2, probly 2 years, Id get the first model that had backwards. but by that time they probly wont have any more left

i bought the 60 gig with backwards compatibility and wireless internet. i have 50% signal strength 2 floors up from my wireless router. It has pretty good distance.

That's pretty sweet! Personally I like the Wii, but I kinda get envious of other systems, because they have some seriously badass games.
