Final Fantasy IIIWhile most people talk this game up like its the best game out there for the DS, I disagree. It lacks the composure and game play that most Final Fantasy titles have. The story-line is deathly cheesy and boring, while the graphics make you want to put this game down.
Final Fantasy III starts out like most Final Fantasy titles, you're put into the middle of the game, not knowing the plot, and waiting to figure out what is going on. As the game progresses, it only gets worse. Because you don't start out with the traditional number of characters in your party (4), I was expecting and hoping that you would gradually gain the other three characters as the game progresses; but I ended up being slightly disappointed because the other three characters abruptly join your party (this happens about five minutes into the game).
The fact that you need to gain massive amounts of levels, before you even get into the first dungeon bothered me, because I just wanted to play the game, not waste my time leveling-up with half of a party, who barely makes it out of the random battles alive.
But what bothered me the most about the game was the magic system. For those who haven't played Final Fantasy titles before, magic attacks play just as much, if not more, into the game as physical attacks. The entire game, in my opinion, was based on magic, but it was nearly impossible to gain magic points (MP) to cast spells. Most bosses were nearly impossible to defeat unless magic was applied, but your party members either didn't have enough MP, or their MP ran out after a few turns. Also, the all-so-important item, Elixir, which restores MP was extremely hard to find and most item shops didn't even carry it.
Maybe the only positive piece of this game is the familiar turned-based battle system. The battle system is the same as most turned-based RPGs and the wide variety of weapons adds to the different possibilities of equipped weapons.
This is definitely one of, if not, the weakest Final Fantasy titles. I would only recommend this game to those who wish to put themselves to sleep with this dull game, or those who have played every-single other Final Fantasy title, and simply want to be able to say that they have played all of the Final Fantasy's out there.
