Metroid Prime Corruption Review

Jack Wire, here... so, I know I haven't touched base with you guys for an eternity and a half but I have my College schedule to work out and I made a promise to improve my gaming habits for the sake of my academic future.*deep breath* Well, the Metroid games were always escalating to greater and greater things (Though Metroid classics will never die out, thank you, Wii Shop) and Metroid Prime Corruption is no exception to this thesis.

You start off watching the poor Valhalla, being torn apart by Dark Samus and her Space Pirate slaves take anything important from the ship (hint hint). You eventually start off with Samus heading to the ship and meeting your fellow Hunters along the way to the boss of the ship, General Dane. To put it simply about your Hunter friends, Ghor is a Mechanical being that can combine with other mechanisms for both battle and travel purposes, Rhundas is a cool and cocky chryokenetic (that means the ability to create and manipulate ice, read a book!) alien, and Gandrayda is a Morpher alien, capable of taking any alien form she wishes. You also meet a powerful super computer called an Aurora Unit (AU for short), just before you find out that another Phazon meteor is on a collision course with Norion. After a (spoiler!) tussle with the new-and-improved Dark Samus, you wind up with the ability to generate Phazon, giving you the full use of a device know as a Phazon Enhancement Device (PED for short), and will gain other Hyper-Powered abilities along the way. The basic storyline is that you end up destroying the Phazon Meteors as they crashland in two other planets and destroy their cores, which escalates to the point where you have to destroy the very source of all Phazon in the known Universe! The storyline is boss, but I found the weaponry a tad odd. Each weapon you get gets stacked onto the other, giving you a missile up-grade from your original missiles (the ones who beat the game know this) and you get a boost in Beam Power twice (the newest Beam weapon sounds like something I thought up in the IH section...). not to mention the ability to up-grade your ship and, believe it or not, your Grapple Beam system. I do find it sad that certain events in the game must happen for the story to continue (I'm not big on the concept of killing allies) but it's one of the greatest games I've played in the Metroid series (I never played the classics so don't flame me on this!) and I love playing it again to get all the scans.

Tactical Progression 9/10
Player options (Weapons, abilities, etc.) 8/10
Playability 10/10
Overall 9/10
Personal Opinion 10/10

Tip from Player-to-Player: If you want the full story on what goes on in the game, scan every piece of Log Data that you can find, 'cause you'll learn the history of this game's storyline by doing so (get the energy cells as well, and don't forget this: 78356).
