You can battle friends, submit your pokemon to the battle tower (so someone else can download your team and battle cpu-controlled versions of them), trade with people from other countries, and more. When you beat the game and become pokemon champ you can acess the battle tower and download and battle CPU-controlled versions of other champ's team (allowing you to battle millions as well as endless numbers or teams to see whose is strongest). This allows you to see once and for all, WHO really is thePOKEMON CHAMPION!!! The game also feature full voice chat (and text messaging before, during, and after battles (but only if the host allows it and no text during battle). Also, in edition to having over 100 NEW pokemon, any pokemon you have in Ruby, Sapphire, Firered, Leafgreen, and Emerald you'll be able to transfer to your Diamond/pearl game using just one DS. Just put themin the same DS and trade!!
To battle your friends wirelessly go upstairs to any pokemon center.
To battle online go downstairs
To battle other champ's pokemon, go to the battle tower.
