Super Paper Mario

I'm surprised no one thought about making a review for this game...

This is something that sets itself apart from its previous versions (N64's Paper Mario and GCN's Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door), because it takes place in both the 2nd and 3rd dimensions! The most shocking, I find, is that you can play as four different characters as the game progresses AND have 12 little partners called Pixls!

The story goes like this. As you start the game, you find out that Peach has been kidnapped (surprise, surprise!), but, when you confront Bowser, you find the true captor of the princess is the mysterious Count Bleck, who is trying to destroy all dimensions, by fulfilling the prophecy inside an evil book called the Dark Prognosticus. Luckily, for Mario, a Pixl named Tippi uses her powers to bring him to Flipside, and meet a magician named Merlon, the possessor of the Light Prognosticus, a book of prophecies to counteract the Dark Prognosticus. What Mario finds out, is that the only way to stop The Void from engulfing everything in sight, is to assemble the Purity heart from the 8 Pure hearts, found in 8 different dimensions. But, it's worse than it seems, for, one of the prophecies in the Dark Prognosticus was that when a Beastly King and a fair princess are joined, the Chaos Heart will appear, starting the prophecy that would mean the destruction of many worlds!

The Pixls themselves are pretty powerful, each with their own abilities and strengths. There are 9 Pixls that you need to beat the game, and 3 of the pixls are optional, and can be used for other purposes that aren't key to the storyline.

The fact that there is more you can find in 3-D is fun, and I'm glad that they've made good choices on the Pixls. My only regret is that there are no badges in the game, and that to get permanent info on enemies is to use catch cards on the enemies (they don't work most of the time, except if you use the SP versions). I would've loved to see what they'd do with badges, and it'd be nice if the enemies drop caught cards with their profile on them.

To add on to the pixel list, there's actually 12, not 13, but it is if you include Tiptron you buy from Francis.

Story Line: 5
Graphics: 4.5
Music: 4.5/5 if you include the Pixl Piccolo

I give this game 5 hammers out of 5 for the funfactor!

Nice review, I really want this game but have been spending all my money on comp parts lately. Again, nice job!

For those looking for Pixl cards: The first nine pixls that you collect are found in every 10th level of the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials, not including the 100th level, the Barry Card is found in Flopside Outskirts 2nd floor, in a hidden pit, the Piccolo Card is found in Flopside Outskirts 1st floor, hidden near the Heart Pillar, and the Dashell Card is found on the 10th floor of the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials. The Tiptron Card is easy to find when you get Map 23, it'll lead you to the first room in where you got a key that leads to Francis.
