Ya, I mean, playing itemless matches sometimes is fine, but entire cults of "pros" who only play 3 characters and only one map without items is insane.

Also, if your a pro, you'd win no matter what map, items, or if your character is in a high 'tier'.

And Hunter, you should go play some of those guys as Link (Supposively low tiered) under their rules just to fuck with them, you'd probably win.

I'd pay 1000 Wii Points to see that!

enough of this. after getting pwned by a nuclear bomb, i almost came back today by summoning minions from a trophy. yeah. that took skill on the parts of both me and my opponent. there's skill in managing to snatch the items and correctly time the throwing in some cases, but the hammer? all luck. the freezie/pitfall/bomb/super hammer/smash ball/assist trophy? they can hand you the game! this is a chaotic party game, the genre of which nintendo is pretty much uncontested king (although halo is a party fps) and yet it along with halo has earned a group of "pros." For those special people, items would ruin their fun by making it a crazy party rather than a serious competition, in the same way the dice rolling in risk might defeat a military mastermind. that's why people say true skill is tested without items. You won't get saved by straight 6's in combat.

I'm sorry... I don't remember the last time a hammer has actually killed me, normally I fly over a guy with one, go to a place he can't reach me, or mach tornado into the guy until he drops the hammer.

yeah, im pretty sure the hammer isnt luck, but yeah items could hand you the game. exp. me and deathbat were playing a game, i was jiggly puff, he was ike, and we were tied, and i got a pokemon, and it was that whale thing, and it killed him TWICE. so yeah.

Hammer... still I play a guy whose moves out prioritize everything.... so most items are not that bad... but I'll tell you one item that'll fuck you over.

A guy with dead on accuricy with the Pit Fall.... someone hits you while your in the air not over the stage. Its an instant kill.
